The Passaic-Bergen-Hudson Transit Project is sponsored by NJ TRANSIT with input from Passaic, Bergen, and Hudson Counties. The study aims to prepare a technical update and assessment of the feasibility of restoring passenger service along the New York, Susquehanna and Western Railway (NYS&W) rail corridor between Hawthorne and Paterson in Passaic County and Hackensack in Bergen County. Additional analysis will address potential challenges and opportunities to extend service into Hudson County and connect to the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail (HBLR) in North Bergen.

The project builds on previous efforts and considers a range of modal options, station locations, and the potential of transit friendly land uses along the corridor.

As we move into the final phases of the study, we would like to share our progress and request your feedback on potential alignments and station stops.

Please expect this video and exercise to take approximately 25 minutes. The first exercise begins at 13:29.

Exercise 4: Rail Alignment & Station Stops

Based on your experiences in and around the Study Area, are there additional locations where you think a rail station stop should be placed? Please place a marker where you suggest an additional station stop. If you do not think any additional station stops are needed, skip.

  New Rail Station

There are two locations (see map with NJ TRANSIT rail lines layer turned on) where the NYS&W rail ROW intersects NJ TRANSIT commuter rail service—would you use the proposed rail service to connect to the NJ TRANSIT Bergen or Pascack Valley Lines?
